STAYING WITH US

Guest Eligibility

Patients must:

  1. Be 21 years of age or younger*
  2. Be undergoing active medical treatment at a local hospital
  3. Reside 25 miles or more from the House

*Patients over 21 with certain medical conditions may be eligible to stay at the House. Please contact the Family Support office 302-428-5317 before submitting a request.

  • Check-ins are scheduled between 9:00 am and 8:30 pm Sunday-Thursday and 9:00 am-4:30 pm Friday. The Family Support office is closed on Saturdays.
  • One room per family with a maximum of 5 guests (including infants and children) per room
  • Adults 18 and older, including the patient, must submit and clear a background check prior to check-in

Families with patients being treated at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware may self-refer by submitting a room request at the links to the right.

International families must be referred by the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware Global Health Services Program. Families associated with Global Health may not submit their own room requests to stay at the House.

Room Requests

The stay of a family currently at the House may be extended unexpectedly based on their child’s medical condition, so we are not able to accept reservations in the event a room is not available. Because of this, a family’s application is considered a room request and not a reservation.

Families are placed on a waitlist for the date they plan to arrive. Once placed on the waitlist, a Family Support Coordinator will contact the family 24-48 hours prior to the date they plan to arrive to confirm room availability.

FAMILY FAQ

Do I need to be COVID-19 vaccinated to stay?

No. Vaccines are not required.

Do I need to be COVID-19 tested prior to my stay?

No. Testing is not required prior to nor during your stay.

Do I need to wear a mask at the House?

Yes. Properly fitting masks over a person’s mouth and nose are required in all program spaces for anyone 5 years of age or older. Masks are available at the front desk if needed.

Can my other children (patient's siblings) stay?

Yes. Siblings are permitted at the House. However, a second adult caregiver must also be a registered guest throughout the family’s stay.

Can my family have visitors during our stay?

Visitors are not permitted at this time.

Do I need a Social Worker's referral to make a room request?

Families with patients being treated at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware may submit their own room requests. If the request is for the same day the family would like to check into the House, the request must be submitted by a Nemours’ social worker.

Families whose children are receiving care at any other hospital must have that hospital’s social worker submit their room request.

Room requests for international families must be submitted by the Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware’s Global Health Services Program.

Is there a minimum length of stay?

No.

Are meals available?

Yes. Dinner is provided every night. Breakfast foods, coffee, tea, and snacks are available 24/7 in our family kitchens.

Is transportation available?

Yes. Volunteer van drivers are available to help you run family errands. You can check the schedule on the digital signage in the kitchen or lobby or at the front desk. Shuttles to and from Nemours Children’s Hospital are running 24/7.
