New Mom Corey Faced Uncertainty Far from Home
Corey, of Greenwood, Delaware, delivered her daughter, Camden, at Christiana Hospital six weeks early and weighing only 3lbs, 9oz. Christiana Hospital is almost two hours from Corey’s home.
“It is difficult to put into words the comfort and assurance that the Ronald McDonald House gives to families,” she shared. “I was so grateful to have a place to stay that allowed me to remain close to my daughter. The staff and volunteers were so helpful and kind. I had transportation to the hospital when I was not able to drive, a warm meal and a comfortable place to rest when I was away from Camden. I had everything I needed as a new mom, and my family was able to visit me while I stayed there.”
Every year, the House welcomes more than 2,000 mothers and caregivers, who need a comfortable and affordable place to stay that is close to their child’s hospital. In addition to providing them a guestroom, meals, and support services, the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware provides them the gift that every mother needs; the ability to remain close to her child.
