Community volunteer groups are an essential part of providing meals for families staying at RMHDE. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions in place volunteer groups are not able to provide this valuable resource, but the need for meals is still ongoing.
At this time, we are planning to prepare meals for 50 guests each day.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Coordinate a catered meal to be delivered to our families. This is our highest-priority meal-related initiative. Meals must be prepared by a restaurant or facility with a commercial catering license. This option must be scheduled ahead of time with Sarah Sommer at email@example.com or (302) 428-5324. More details will be provided when coordinating with Sarah.
2. Make a monetary donation to help us provide hot meals during this time. Your donation will go toward purchasing meals or ingredients to provide our families with dinner every night of the week.
3. Donate pantry items from our Amazon Wish List. We have updated our Amazon Charity List with items we could use to stock our pantry and cleaning supplies. Please note- you must be signed in and have chosen the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware as your AmazonSmile Charity in order to view and order from the List. We will update this list as much as possible based on our needs, but items may be claimed or sold out quickly. If nothing is available on the list, please consider donating what you would have spent on Amazon items by giving through option number 2.

Meals for the House
If you are dropping off a scheduled food donation coordinated through our “Meals for the House” program, follow the instructions provided to you by the staff member you worked with (usually Sarah Sommer).
Follow signs in the parking that say “DONATIONS.” We have a large Tupperware container outside the kitchen entrance doors. If your donation fits in this bin, please leave it there. Feel free to leave your name and address with the donation if you wish to receive an acknowledgment letter.
If your donation needs to be accepted by a staff person, please pick up the phone outside the back door and you will be immediately connected to the front desk. Someone will meet you at this entrance to accept your donation.
At this time, we are encouraging Pop Tab donations to be delivered after we lift restrictions and re-open the House.
